Gary Neville has told Tottenham Hotspur transfer target Harry Maguire that he has reacted in an ‘amazing’ way after he was stripped as the captain of Manchester United on Sunday.
The 30-year-old posted the news to fans on Instagram and stated that he had ‘discussions’ with Erik ten Hag, who informed him of his decision and how he is ‘extremely disappointed’ by it all.
In the comments section of Harry Maguire’s post, Sky Sports pundit and former Manchester United defender Neville simply posted ‘amazing response’.
This news really shouldn’t be a surprise to anyone because Maguire, who is wanted by the likes of Tottenham this summer, was sat on the bench for the majority of the 2022/23 campaign.
In truth, that will probably continue next season and this call by ten Hag just proves it, so it begs the question if he is going to leave now? David Moyes’ West Ham United have also been mentioned as possible suitors for his signature.
The Manchester United fans certainly feel like he should go, but would those repping the likes of Spurs and West Ham take him on board?
Maguire declining on the domestic stage
Whilst things are going well for the Englishman on the international stage, including a number of strong performances at the 2022 Qatar World Cup.
The same can’t be said for his form either in the Premier League or in Europe.
Therefore, it can be understandable if Tottenham and West Ham fans don’t want their club to sign him, even though someone like Ange Postecoglou is actively trying to bring in a centre-back.
