Not many would argue that Arsenal have been the best-performing team in the Premier League this season.
They have been outstanding from back to front, and Mikel Arteta deserves huge credit for his work during these past 12 months.
After 37 Premier League matches, Arsenal have scored the second-highest amount of goals (89) and conceded the least (28).
That’s why several of their players would be getting named in your Team of the Season because many are deserving of it.
Gary Neville was naming his Team of the Season ahead of the final day of the campaign and it included five Arsenal players and one who used to don their colours.
Three of Neville’s backline are from Arsenal, and rightly so, with Ben White, William Saliba and Gabriel Magalhaes selected.
The Manchester United legend then included midfield duo Martin Odegaard and Declan Rice – the latter has been an absolute machine this term.
But one man who Arsenal sold, back in 2020, was also included and that’s Aston Villa’s number one, Emiliano Martinez.
Neville thinks he has been ‘the best’ in the Premier League this term as he highlighted his ‘character’ and ‘personality’, as he told Sky Sports.
Emiliano Martinez Premier League Team of the Season
“His XG goal saves or whatever it is you measure these goalkeepers by,” said Neville. “Personality and character.
‘Alisson, maybe that little injury and maybe how you finish the season has an impact. But I felt that I had to have a Villa player in the team. It was either going to be Watkins or Martinez.
“In the end, I was looking at Martinez, Alisson or Pickford. It’s the first time I looked at Pickford and I wanted to mention him because I have been critical of him, at times, earlier on in his Everton career. I think he has proven himself with England and now he has become a good reliable goalkeeper. But Martinez, to me, is the best goalkeeper.”

Arsenal Premier League title race with Manchester City
The Premier League title race will go to the season’s final day.
Arsenal didn’t get the favour they wanted from Tottenham after they were beaten 2-0 by Manchester City on Tuesday night.
It now means that Arsenal need to win their season finale against Everton and hope Pep Guardiola’s side either draw or lose to West Ham United.
Man City have been here before – only a number of seasons ago – in this very same scenario, but this time with Liverpool.
The Treble-winners were actually 2-0 down to Aston Villa on that day and many thought the unthinkable was going to happen.
But then Man City did what they do best and scored three goals in five minutes to hand them another Premier League title.
You assume normal service will resume on Sunday, even if Arsenal have been so good this term.
