Liverpool fans will be watching on with annoyance as Arsenal and Manchester City take the Premier League title race to the final day.
At one point, it looked like the heavyweight trio were going to scrap it out right until the end.
But Liverpool just couldn’t stop dropping valuable points, as Arsenal ensured that their defeat to Aston Villa, on the same day the Reds lost to Crystal Palace in April, was just a blip.
Since then, Mikel Arteta’s side have done almost everything in their power to try and dethrone the trophy-winning machine that is Manchester City.
That included Arsenal’s narrow 1-0 win over Manchester United on Sunday at Old Trafford to send them one point clear at the top of the table, with a better goal difference, ahead of Manchester City’s trip to Tottenham Hotspur on Tuesday night.
Whatever happens, the title race will be decided on the final day of the campaign. It’s a feeling Liverpool are familiar with and one that they don’t want to be reminded of.
Michael Owen stated that it’s ‘so hard’ for so many great teams to be competing in one era for English football’s main crown, as he told Premier League Productions (12/05/24 at 6:45 pm)
The former striker added that it’s ‘incredible’ Liverpool only managed one league title under Jurgen Klopp ahead of his departure this summer.
And now, Arsenal might be going through the same feeling, even though he thinks they ‘absolutely deserve the title this season by the way they have played’.

“They will look back, if they don’t win the league this season, Liverpool will be doing the same for the last nearly decade,” said Owen.
“It’s so hard when there are two great teams in one era. There is no question this Manchester City team is a great team. How Liverpool have only won one title in the last half a dozen or eight years is incredible. Arsenal might be saying the same in a few years.
“They absolutely deserve the title this season by the way they have played. They would have won it in a lot of other seasons. What could they get? About 89 points or something at the end of it. It’s a league-winning season that is. To have a great team at the same time as another one is pretty hard to take, but it’s not over yet.”
Manchester City’s trip to Tottenham
Arsenal fans will find no shame in saying that they will be cheering Spurs on this Tuesday night, Ian Wright’s message certainly left Glenn Hoddle in hysterics.
But Spurs supporters themselves are in a spot of bother. If Villa don’t beat Liverpool on Monday night, then they still have a chance to secure fourth.

It’s going to be difficult for Tottenham fans to cheer their team for scoring, if they do so against Manchester City, because they will know that it gives Arsenal the edge in the title race.
All in all, it makes interesting viewing and it just further adds spice as the 2023/24 Premier League title campaign comes to an end this Sunday.
