According to The Times, Everton are interested in reuniting Newcastle maestro Sean Longstaff with Rafa Benitez at Goodison Park.
Gary Lineker rates Sean Longstaff highly
If this deal does go through, one man associated with Everton will presumably be in favour of the transfer – Gary Lineker.
The former Toffees striker once said that he thinks Longstaff is England’s future.
As the Chronicle covered, Lineker also held the same opinion on Matty Longstaff, who plays alongside his brother at Newcastle.
On another occasion, the BBC Match of the Day host took to Twitter to say that both Longstaff brothers ‘can really play’ after impressing against Wolves.
Clearly, Lineker rates the Everton target highly.
Sean Longstaff would be a great signing for Everton

One type of player the Toffees are really missing is a Michael Carrick type midfielder who can sit and dictate the play.
Interestingly, Longstaff – who earns £25,000-a-week – has actually been compared to Carrick, who won five Premier League titles.
Screening the backline, the 23-year-old could provide a solid base for the likes of Allan Doucoure to push further forward and score goals.

Benitez doesn’t have anyone like Longstaff currently at Goodison Park, so with just one year left on his contract at Newcastle, he’s definitely worth chasing.
Keep an eye on this saga, with just weeks until the transfer window shuts.
