Gary Lineker has taken to Twitter in shock after finding out how much money Jack Grealish will be earning at Manchester City.

What’s the story?

Well, yesterday evening, Pep Guardiola’s side announced the signing of Grealish in a £100m move from Aston Villa.

After the announcement, the finer details of the deal emerged, which left Lineker astonished on Twitter.

According to The Telegraph, Grealish will earn £115m in wages after signing a six-year contract at the Etihad Stadium.

The 25-year-old will be given £369,231-a-week, making him the highest paid player in English football history.

That is, quite simply, a mind boggling amount of money.

What does Gary Lineker think of Jack Grealish’s salary?

After reading The Telegraph‘s information on Twitter, Lineker shared an 11-word response and an emoji to express his disbelief.

You can see what the BBC Match of the Day host wrote in full below.

In our view, it’s crazy to think that Aston Villa were happy to pay Grealish more than this astronomical salary.

That was according to Sky Sports, who claimed that the Villans offered their former captain more than the Citizens did.

For a club like Aston Villa – who were only promoted in 2019 – to be able to afford such a sum speaks volumes as to how rich their owners are.

It also shows just how desperate they were to keep Grealish – Manchester City have another incredible talent on their hands, to say the very least.
