It’s ridiculous to think Barcelona could be inserting a £1bn clause in Gavi’s contract, with the likes of Liverpool sniffing around for a possible transfer swoop.

The 17-year-old is one of the top talents in the world and former Barcelona striker, Gary Lineker, thinks the Liverpool transfer target is the ‘breakout star’ this season, as he agreed on Football Joe.

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano recently claimed that Barcelona want to insert a £1bn clause in Gavi’s new contract.

This comes after the Mirror reported that Liverpool are keen on prizing the teenage sensation away from the Nou Camp.

Either way, when it was put to Lineker that Gavi is the breakout this season, he agreed with the comment and praised the young technician.

“Well, if we say Pedri is already a star because he was playing in the Euros,” said Lineker.

“Then I don’t disagree with that. I think that’s probably absolutely true. He has been superb.

“You could probably also say Vinicius is some ways. Although, I know he has been around for a while. But he has had such a big improvement this season that you would have to possibly include him.

“So, I am going to agree with you there, he (Gavi) has been great.”

With Xavi Hernandez now swapping his passing ability for his coaching abilities, Barca are looking for those next big superstars.

Whilst Xavi has hung up his boots, his partner in crime, Andres Iniesta, is still going strong in Japan.

But could two new kids off the block – Xavi and Pedri – be the next big talents to emerge from the backstreets of Catalonia?

One thing is for sure, at this moment in time, they are showcasing serious talent that Spain doesn’t have to worry about who is going to be running their midfield in years to come.
