Gary Lineker has taken to Twitter to lavish praise on a reported Liverpool target.

Marca in Spain reported on Friday night that Liverpool are monitoring the situation of Barcelona sensation Gavi.

The Reds were linked in October too but Fabrizio Romano dashed Jurgen Klopp’s hope of signing him by revealing that he was on the brink of signing a new contract.

However, that proved to be a premature assessment from the Italian journalist because Gavi remains contracted to Camp Nou until 2023 – and Marca claimed in the same report from this week that negotiatitons have been delayed until the new year, preserving Liverpool’s hope of getting him.

The Anfield outfit are likely to be joined by a host of other clubs, however, because the Blaugrana academy product is, well, absolutely brilliant.

The 17-year-old stole the show for the Primera Liga giants on Saturday by dazzling in a 3-2 victory over Elche.

And here’s what Lineker posted about the kid on Twitter:

Absolute steal

In his existing contract, Gavi’s release clause works out at around £42 million which, honestly, could be considered a steal if Liverpool do get him.

Because let’s face it, if Barcelona tie him down to a new deal, the buyout figure will be a minimum of 10 times that amount.

And if that happens, well Liverpool can probably kiss their hopes of getiing him goodbye……forever.

But with Barca delaying negotiations until next year, that’s certainly a boost for the Reds.
