Fabrizio Romano has given an update on Gavi’s situation at Barcelona on Twitter, and it is a blow to manager Jurgen Klopp’s chances of bringing the midfielder Liverpool.
Liverpool interest
Earlier this week, it emerged that Liverpool are interested in Gavi and are willing to pay the money to bring him to Anfield.
El Nacional reported this month that Liverpool are ready to pay the 17-year-old midfielder’s €50million (£42.49 million) release clause.
We covered the report here on HITC Sport.
Barcelona’s plan
It has now emerged that Barcelona are in no mood to sell Gavi.
Well-known and well-respected journalist Romano has reported on Twitter that Barcelona want to extend the 17-year-old midfielder’s contract and increase his salary.

Blow for Liverpool
This development regarding Gavi will come as a blow for Liverpool.
The 17-year-old is a very good midfielder who has impressed BBC Match of the Day presenter Gary Lineker as well as some Liverpool fans.
The teenager has earned two caps for Spain already.
Gavi can only get better and develop in the coming years.
But it seems that Gavi’s future is at Barcelona, not at Liverpool.
