Arsenal attacker Emile Smith Rowe has a quality very few possess according to Garth Crooks following the youngster’s latest goal for the Gunners against Brentford.
Writing in his Team of the Weeks post for BBC Sport, the pundit suggested that the England international has the rare ability to create goalscoring opportunities for himself after Smith Rowe’s goal for Arsenal saw the winger do just that.
The 21-year-old picked up the ball on the left wing before storming down the flank to cut inside and finish past David Raya, a move that Arsenal fans have seen Smith Rowe do on numerous occasions this season.
The Arsenal academy graduate scored similar goals against the likes of Aston Villa and West Ham earlier this season, and for Crooks, Smith Rowe’s ability to create chances for himself is a rare skill for a player of his age.
The pundit said: “It wasn’t so much Emile Smith Rowe’s goal itself that caught my eye but the fact that from the moment he received the ball, the only thing he had on his mind was a goal. The player claimed in his post-match interview that he’s been working on his finishing.
“That’s fine, but what I saw against Brentford was a player with the ability to not only score a goal but carve the opportunity out all by himself. To be in a position to both score and create all at the same time is a rare quality in a player.”
Smith Rowe ability sets him apart from other Arsenal talents

Arsenal are undergoing something of a youth revolution under Mikel Arteta, at Smith Rowe’s goalscoring ability and knack for creating chances out of nothing puts the forward in a unique position.
Indeed, Smith Rowe has been sensational for the Gunners this season, and his scoring traits have been crucial for Arsenal in their race for top-four. And if the England star can continue this streak, the north London side can start to dream of a return to the UEFA Champions League.
