According to The Transfer Window Podcast, Tottenham Hotspur are working on a move for Sevilla boss Julen Lopetegui.
Paulo Fonseca is suddenly the favourite for the Spurs job after a move for Antonio Conte fell through last week.
Fonseca isn’t the only candidate though, with Lopetegui now believed to be on Tottenham’s wish list too.
Bale’s history with Tottenham target Lopetegui
Lopetegui may be with Sevilla now, but he did have a spell in charge of Real Madrid too – and that means he managed Tottenham hero Gareth Bale.
Tottenham face a decision on Bale’s future after his first year back on loan with the club, as they are believed to have an option to extend that. So how did it go under Lopetegui?
Lopetegui branded Bale a ‘magnificent’ player in 2018, and the Welshman responded by recording four goals and five assists in 12 games under Lopetegui.
That all sounds great for Tottenham, but Lopetegui quickly lost his job and Real legend Jorge Valdano blamed Bale for that, suggesting his poor displays and dire El Clasico display forced Real to sack Lopetgui.

What next for Bale at Tottenham?
Fonseca remains the favourite for the Tottenham job, but the potential move for Lopetegui throws a spanner in the works for Bale.
If Lopetegui didn’t much enjoy working with Bale, then a Tottenham return would seem very unlikely.
Tottenham need to make a decision on Bale coming back soon, and Lopetegui would surely have strong thoughts on that – one way or the other.
