The race for fourth place comes down to a crucial North London derby between Tottenham and Arsenal on Thursday night – and Gabriel has posted a two-word message to fans ahead of the crucial grudge match.
Arsenal’s win over Leeds on Sunday, in which they held on to win 2-1 despite playing and dominating a Leeds side that went down to 10 men before the half-hour mark, sees them go four points clear of Spurs.
Tottenham produced an excellent performance against Liverpool and were perhaps unlucky to only draw 1-1 – given Luis Diaz’s effort deflected into the net off of Rodrigo Bentancur’s toe. Three games are left to be played.
The four-point difference, though, means Arsenal can perhaps accept a draw against Spurs on Thursday while Antonio Conte’s men simply have to beat Arsenal to stand any chance of leapfrogging their London rivals.
Gabriel, who is likely to be partnered by Ben White in defence on Thursday despite Rob Holding’s impressive performances, posted a two-word message on Monday afternoon ahead of this week’s crucial NLD.
Gabriel Tweet: Who gets fourth, Arsenal or Tottenham?
While it was arguably one of their best performances on Saturday evening, the draw against Liverpool means Tottenham have it all to do to topple Arsenal. Spurs cannot slip up, and must hope that Arsenal do.
Starting, with Thursday. Tottenham do boast home advantage, but they will need to beat the Gunners and then hope Arsenal slip up away at Newcastle or at home against Everton. Arsenal look likely to get fourth, now.
