Gabriel Magalhaes & Yann M’Vila laud ’strong’ Arsenal player’s performance at Euro 2024

It’s that time of year when the likes of Arsenal fans will now think about the new season and the club’s title charge.

Mikel Arteta’s side will be expected to be perhaps the only team to push Manchester City for England’s main crown ahead of the new campaign.

Yes, Arsenal missed out on the Premier League title last term, but one of the best things they did and they have to repeat is their defensive work.

From back to front, the Gunners were consistently outstanding and you feel they have to repeat the same qualities if they want to become champions after nearly two decades.

Two players key to Arsenal’s success are Gabriel Magalhaes, who is currently at Copa America with Brazil and William Saliba, who is currently at Euro 2024 with France.

On Monday, France secured a narrow, but hard-fought victory over Belgium to book their ticket to the quarter-final stages of the European Championships.

Before the tournament, it was questioned whether or not Saliba would start, but the previously critical Didier Deschamps has started him in every game and he has helped his team secure three clean sheets.

Saliba took to Instagram after the match and stated ‘tough game but nice to win’, with several players reacting in the comments section.

Arsenal centre-back Gabriel wrote: “Yes, my brother.” And Kephren Thuram added “Grand”, while Yann M’Vila told him: “The boss is strong.”

Before this tournament started, whilst everything was rosy in the Arsenal garden for Saliba, you couldn’t say the same about his international performances.

It just wasn’t working and he was getting criticised. But now all of that is changing on its head.

There was a lot of trust in him at the start of the tournament and he is now delivering by going to the next level.

If Saliba can help France win the European Championships, then not only would it elevate his game, but it would also help him at club level and bring that proven winning mentality to the team.
