According to a number of reports, Arsenal are keen to sign Gabriel Jesus this summer.
The Gunners are desperate for a new number nine as Eddie Nketiah and Alexandre Lacazette’s contracts tick down, and it seems as though Jesus is high on their list of targets.
Interestingly, this is a player Mikel Arteta knows well from his time at Manchester City, and perhaps more intriguingly, Jesus has had a lot of praise for Arteta in the past.
What’s been said?
Jesus spoke about Arteta just before he headed to Arsenal in 2019.
“He’s helped a lot of players. When I want to do finishing after training, I tell him and he comes and helps me,” the Brazilian said as quoted by the MEN.
“So he is really fantastic for us. All the players know that — everyone knows that in the club. He is a fantastic guy and fantastic manager.
“I don’t honestly know what he thinks about his career, that is for him. I hope he can find his way and I hope he can be happy.”

Perfect next move
Whether or not Jesus is the right man for Arsenal remains to be seen, but with Arteta in charge, Arsenal may be the right club for Jesus.
This is a player who needs a bit of love. He’s been out in and out of the team under Pep Guardiola for far too long, and the fact that he already has this pre-existing relationship with Arteta could help him immediately settle at Arsenal.
According to Fabrizio Romano, Jesus will be on the move this summer, and Arsenal could be the perfect next move for the Brazilian forward.
