Gabriel Agbonlahor has given his verdict on Chelsea winger Mykhailo Mudryk and has said that Arsenal fans will be relieved that he is not playing for Mikel Arteta’s side at the moment.

The former Aston Villa striker and talkSPORT pundit has also compared Mudryk and Arsenal winger Gabriel Martinelli.

So, what has Gabriel Agbonlahor said about Mykhailo Mudryk? Let’s take a look.

Former Arsenal target and Chelsea winger Mykhailo Mudryk criticised

Well, Gabriel Agbonlahor has given his take on Chelsea winger Mykhailo Mudryk. The former Aston Villa striker has not been impressed by the 23-year-old Ukraine international at all.

The talkSPORT pundit has noted that Mudryk does not use his pace properly. Agbonlahor has said that the youngster does not seem to be in control of the ball when he runs with it at pace.

Agbonlahor has noted how Arsenal winger Gabriel Martinelli used his pace against Liverpool central defender Ibrahima Konate this past weekend.

Martinelli scored one of the goals for Arsenal and was a constant menace to the Liverpool defence. Alan Pardew was impressed.

TalkSPORT pundit Agbonlahor has also said that Arsenal fans will be relieved that Mudryk is not playing for them now.

Arsenal were linked with the winger before he joined London and Premier League rivals Chelsea.

ESPN reported in January 2023 that Arsenal were in talks with Mudryk “for several weeks”, but Chelsea stepped up their pursuit of the winger and paid the asking price to bring him to Stamford Bridge. According to Sky Sports, Chelsea paid £88.5 million for the youngster.

Agbonlahor said about Mudryk on talkSPORT: “You see, when I watch him, and I said it last week, and it might seem rude, but he would run into a mannequin if there was a mannequin on the pitch.

“He runs into players if like the ball would go through them and he could sprint after it. It doesn’t work like that. This is the Premier League. The defenders are clever. They know when to back off and give you some space.

“Even when he runs through one-on-one, you would never back him. I mean, it’s like Werner, a bit like hectic, they are not in control of the ball, and Arsenal fans must be thinking, ‘Wow imagine if we had like signed him’.

“You look at Mudryk and Martinelli, miles difference in quality. Martinelli yesterday rips past Konate. That’s how you use your pace.”

Mykhailo Mudryk struggling

Mykhailo Mudryk has failed to make a huge impact at Chelsea and is struggling at the moment.

The 23-year-old is getting chances, but the youngster is not making the most of them. He has to step up his game.

The Ukraine international winger has made nine starts and 10 substitute appearances in the Premier League for Chelsea this season.

The winger has scored three goals and given two assists in those games. He has also scored one goal in four EFL Cup matches.
