Darren Bent says £100,000-a-week Chelsea player is ‘appalling’

Darren Bent has given his verdict on Chelsea winger Mykhailo Mudryk, noting that he turned down the chance to join Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal.

The former Tottenham Hotspur striker and Arsenal fan has not been impressed at all how how Mudryk has done at Chelsea so far.

Darren Bent slams Chelsea winger Mykhailo Mudryk

Well, Darren Bent has been speaking about the situation at Chelsea, and one of the players the former Tottenham Hotspur striker has not been impressed with at all is Mykhailo Mudryk.

The Arsenal fan has said that Mudryk has done nothing of note at Chelsea since his move from Shakhtar Donetsk in January 2023.

Bent has noted that Arsenal wanted to sign the 23-year-old Ukraine international winger at the time, but the youngster chose to move to London and Premier League rivals Chelsea instead.

As reported by ESPN in January 2023, Arsenal were in talks with Mudryk “for several weeks”, but Chelsea stepped up their pursuit of the winger and paid the asking price. Arsenal did not.

Mudryk has made 34 appearances in the Premier League so far in his career. The 23-year-old winger has scored three goals and given four assists in those games.

Bent said on talkSPORT: “Someone like Mykhailo Mudryk. High, high value. Arsenal were in for him. He chose to go to Chelsea over Arsenal. 

“Hasn’t shown anything. When you look at his decision-making, his touch, when he gets into the final third, his composure, I mean, it looks appalling.”

My View: Let’s be patient with Mykhailo Mudryk

In my opinion, we should be patient with Mykhailo Mudryk and allow the Chelsea winger time to grow and develop.

Yes, it is not happening for the winger at the moment, but we should not forget that he is only 23 now.

Mudryk is still very young. A club like Arsenal would not have tried to sign the winger had he not had potential.

Having said that, I have to note that the £100,000-a-week (Spotrac) winger himself should try to step up his game. 

Yes, there have been managerial changes since Mudryk has been at Chelsea, but he has not always made the most of the chances he has got.
