Gabriel Agbonlahor has decided to reignite his feud with the Elland Road faithful after Leeds suffered a 4-0 defeat to Ajax in Amsterdam.
What’s the context?
Well, Agbonlahor has made a habit of mocking Leeds, ever since he began punditry work for talkSPORT.
His jibes at Leeds were highlighted by the club after Patrick Bamford’s hat-trick saw Marcelo Bielsa’s side beat his beloved Aston Villa 3-0 in October.
Agbonlahor called Leeds and Bielsa a myth, and has continued to mock the Yorkshire-based outfit.
Now, the 34-year-old has delivered another blow.
What did Gabriel Agbonlahor say?
Well, Agbonlahor was actually responding to comments from ex-Tottenham maestro Rafael van der Vaart.
The Dutchman called Leeds an average side, and also said he expects them to be fighting against relegation in 2021/22.
In the comments section below, Agbonlahor simply wrote: ‘I agree pal’.
It’s hardly the most scathing thing he’s said about Leeds, but after some time away from the spotlight, it seems he’s keen to continue winding them up – just in time for the new season!
We don’t think Leeds will have any issues with relegation, although their form over pre-season has been quite concerning, in truth.
However, it’s always dangerous to read too much into pre-season results – above all, it’s about regaining fitness and gelling new players together.
