Gabby Agbonlahor has responded to Matty Targett’s post on Instagram, reminding the on-loan Newcastle left-back he is an Aston Villa player. Targett could join the Toon in the summer, on a permanent basis from Villa.
Targett, 26, left Villa on loan to join Newcastle on a dry loan in January – after the Midlands club brought in Lucas Digne. He has since sparkled for Newcastle as Eddie Howe took the Toon from relegation to 12th place.
He has clocked up 15 appearances for Newcastle since January, helping the Toon win nine of those matches. Reports claim that Targett is valued at £15million, and that Newcastle want to sign the defender permanently.
Leeds, Wolves and Leicester are also taking a look at Targett ahead of the summer window. Targett posted his delight at helping Newcastle beat Arsenal on Monday, but Agbonlahor responded to Targett’s Instagram.

Agbonlahor tells Targett he is a Villa player: Newcastle must move
Newcastle simply have to sign Targett. The defender has been incredible for the Toon and he has already implemented himself into the identity that Howe has put together. For £15million, the Toon seriously need to sign him.
For Targett, he is not going to play regularly for Villa with Digne easily first choice. So, a move to Newcastle makes utter sense. Agbonlahor might still see him as a Villa player, but the Toon will surely sign him permanently.
