The Kopa Trophy was handed out on Monday evening, and it’s fair to say that there was a controversial winner.

Barcelona’s Gavi scooped the prize, and while the Spaniard is a very talented footballer, the fact that Barcelona struggled so much last season in La Liga and in the Champions League has some questioning this win.

The likes of Eduardo Camavinga and Jude Bellingham all had claims to stake for winning this prize, but according to Alphonso Davies, Jamal Musiala was robbed of the award.

Davies says that while Musiala was robbed of a Kopa Trophy, nobody will ever be able to take his eventual Ballon d’Or win away from him, tipping the German to become the best footballer on the planet one day.

Interestingly, this comes just few weeks or so after Musiala was linked with a move to Liverpool.

The Reds are apparently very keen on Musiala, and if they land him, it looks like they may well be getting a future superstar.

He finished third in the Kopa Trophy voting, and now he’s been tipped for a future Ballon d’Or win.

Musiala certainly looks to be one of the top talents of the next generation. A versatile player who can work either in the attack or in the midfield, Musiala is already proving to be one of Bayern Munich’s most important players.

Sadly, Musiala opted to represent Germany at international level over England, and he may have a breakout World Cup performance in Qatar after cementing himself as one of the first-choice midfielders for Hansi Flick’s side.

Whether or not a move to the Premier League – specifically Liverpool, comes to fruition remains to be seen, but we certainly seem to be looking at one of world football’s future superstars.
