Fulham are closing in on Daniel James with the Leeds United winger bracing himself for a deadline day medical.

The Whites have been chasing attacking reinforcements, especially since learning of Rodrigo’s shoulder injury this week.

A move for PSV Eindhoven winger Cody Gakpo hasn’t materialised but it looks like Leeds are closing in on Marseille’s Bamba Dieng.

That may though mean that Daniel James moves on – and he is seemingly preparing for an Elland Road exit.

Fulham are closing in on Daniel James

James has been heavily linked with a move away from Leeds over the last 10 days.

Tottenham Hotspur have been very interested in James and focused on the Welshman after giving up hope of signing Atletico Madrid’s Yannick Carrasco.

The Athletic then claimed this morning that James was preparing himself for the possibility of a deadline day medical away from Leeds.

Many would have assumed that Tottenham would be the destination for James, but it’s actually another London club.

Fabrizio Romano reports that Fulham are close to an agreement to sign James on loan, with the final details being discussed.

Marco Silva appears to have swooped in and won the race for James, giving Fulham another option out wide.

The hope will be that James can use his pace to devastating effect and give Aleksandar Mitrovic some service in front of goal.

Fulham are also closing in on Carlos Vinicius, meaning they could unleash a former Spurs striker and a recent Tottenham target on Antonio Conte’s men.

It now sounds like Tottenham won’t be signing anybody on deadline day, with Bryan Gil now seemingly staying despite loan interest from Valencia.

Just why Fulham have been able to do a deal and Tottenham haven’t is unclear, but Leeds seem happy for James to go despite chasing him for more than two years.
