Fluminense’s president Mario Bittencourt has opened up on Fulham’s attempts to sign Andre with the Cottagers closing in on a deal.

Fulham are looking for midfield additions after Joao Palinha completed his move to Bayern Munich with the hopes of adding trophies to career.

Sources have told HITC that Fulham made an enquiry to Manchester United for Scott McTominay with the Red Devils valuing the Scotsman at £40 million, which is a fee that the Cottagers have deemed as too high.

As a result, the Cottagers have pivoted to Fluminense’s Brazilian midfielder Andre, who is closing in on a move to West London.

Fluminense president comments on Fulham’s interest in Andre

Speaking to Rádio Itatiaia, Fluminense’s president Mario Bittencourt was asked about Fulham’s interest in the midfielder.

“There’s no negotiation. There’s a proposal that was made [by Fulham], Fluminense made a counter-proposal and there has been no response to it yet. It’s been about 10 days,” he said.

“Fulham are the club that have been looking for André since last year, as well as Liverpool. In January they made a new bid.

“At the moment, what we have is a piece of paper from Fulham with a proposal, and a piece of paper from Fluminense with a counter-proposal. We don’t have an answer yet.

“I saw a recent report, published by an English journalist, that the player was already talking to the club.”

“That’s normal, it’s part of the negotiation between player and club. If so, how much salary he would like to earn, etc. It’s a negotiation that Fluminense is not part of, between the player and the possible future club. The three parties have to come to an agreement.”

Fulham hopeful of medical this weekend for Andre

Despite the claims from Bittencourt that Fulham have not responded to Fluminense’s counter proposal, the Cottagers are hopeful Andre will fly in for his medical this weekend.

HITC understands that Fulham confident of finalising a deal in the coming week for the Brazilian, who had interest in Andre back in January.

We also understand personal terms have been agreed in principle for Andre as the club close in on a deal.
