Everton are set to miss out on Ernest Nuamah after he snubbed a move to Goodison Park in favour of joining Fulham on deadline day.

The Toffees are looking to make several late additions to Sean Dyche’s squad before Friday’s deadline but they have just suffered a major blow in their pursuit of Ernest Nuamah.

HITC can confirm that Fulham are set to win the race to sign Nuamah after the player decided he would prefer a move to Craven Cottage.

Everton were in advanced talks with Lyon to sign Nuamah but they are now set to miss out to their Premier League rivals.

Fulham are set to complete a deal for the winger, who was signed by Lyon for £24m, before Friday’s deadline.

John Textor misses out on Ernest Nuamah deal

Everton were pushing to sign Nuamah on the advice of prospective owner John Textor, who remains in talks with Farhad Moshiri over a takeover deal at Goodison Park.

Textor, who owns a majority stake in Lyon, had recommended Nuamah as a signing to the Toffees this summer.

Nuamah moved to Lyon earlier this summer from Textor-owned RWD Molenbeek, and the American businessman wanted to bring him along to Merseyside.

Everton still busy on deadline day

Despite missing out on Nuamah, who has been hailed a “sensation“, Everton are still chasing a number of deals on deadline day and are expected to be busy.

Everton are closing in on a deal for Orel Mangala, with the midfielder set to join the Toffees on loan.
