Speaking on his YouTube channel, Alasdair Gold has divulged what he’s heard about Jannik Vestergaard amid his links to Tottenham.
Reports emerged this week linking Tottenham with a move for the Danish centre-back, and while signing Vestergaard would be an interesting proposition for Spurs, it seems as though those reports are wide of the mark.
“I saw Jannik Vestergaard at Southampton linked, from what I understand he’s not a player, even though he’s also coming into that same situation (with his contract), I understand he’s not someone Spurs are currently looking at. I think that one’s come about because of the Hojbjerg connection and doing a similar deal,” Gold said.

Unfortunately, it seems as though this isn’t a deal that’s going to happen.
The centre-back position is reportedly a spot that Jose Mourinho has earmarked for improvement at Tottenham, but Vestergaard seemingly isn’t the man they need.
To be fair, he doesn’t really fit the profile of player Spurs want, Mourinho reportedly wants a speedy left-footed centre-half, and with all due respect to Vestergaard, he’s not the quickest and he’s a right-footer.
It seems as though this rumour isn’t one that Tottenham fans should be holding their breath waiting on.
