According to The Mirror, Tottenham Hotspur are plotting a summer move to sign Southampton defender Jannik Vestergaard.
It’s stated that Jose Mourinho has made a new centre back an absolute priority for the summer window, and Vestergaard is thought to be a top choice.
His ability to play on the left or right of a centre back pairing is particularly appealing, and Spurs believe they can land another bargain from the Saints.
Last summer, Spurs swooped in to sign Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg from Southampton in a cut-price move given that he was inside the final year of his contract.
History could repeat itself as Tottenham plot to sign another Danish ace from the Saints, with Vestergaard also entering the final year of his contract.
Mourinho wants a physical presence at the back, and 6ft 6in man mountain Vestergaard is seen as one option to help shore up Tottenham’s defence.

The 28-year-old looked to be heading towards the Southampton exit a year ago, but has made himself a key part of Ralph Hasenhuttl’s team this season.
Vestergaard could soon reunite with compatriot and former teammate Hojbjerg at Spurs, and the centre back has been on Tottenham’s radar for more than three years following prior links in 2018 via Tuttomercatoweb.
