Speaking on The Molinuex View Podcast, Tim Spiers has shared what he knows about Wolves’ interest in Liverpool striker Divock Origi.
The Belgian striker has been linked with a move to the Midlands club for quite some time now, but for one reason or another a deal hasn’t been reached to bring him in from Liverpool.
Origi has slipped down the pecking order at Anfield in the last 12 months after the arrivals of Takumi Minamino and Diogo Jota, and Spiers says that Liverpool would be happy to sell him, albeit at a hefty price.
Indeed, Spiers says that Origi could cost as much as £25 million this month, which is a bit too expensive for Wolves.
“There are some names that I’ve had confirmed they’ve looked at. Divock Origi from Liverpool,” Spiers said.
“He’s not playing for Liverpool at the moment, Wolves have looked at him and bid for him before, he’s been dropped from the Belgium squad and he’s very keen to get back in ahead of the Euros this summer, so he wants to play and Liverpool are happy to sell.
“They are in a dilemma, do you go out and spend £25 million on Divock Origi? After the money they’ve spent in the summer, I don’t think there’s a huge amount available this month for a permanent deal, from what I’m told we should not be expecting a big money deal this month.”

It seems as though Origi may not be joining Wolves in this window, at least not on a permanent deal anyway.
Unless Liverpool lower their asking price, it seems as though Wolves simply can’t afford Origi, which is a massive shame seeing as the move would seemingly suit both the player and the club.
We can only hope that a loan deal can be agreed or a cheaper agreement with staggered payments, as Origi really looks to fit the bill of what Wolves need right now.
