West Ham United are chasing Borussia Monchengladbach defender Remy Bensebaini – and the Hammers may have received a major boost.
The Hammers need reinforcements ahead of their Europa League campaign, and David Moyes seemingly wants to add a new left-sided defender.
Corriere dello Sport reported earlier this week that West Ham fancy signing Gladbach ace Bensebaini, but face competition from Jose Mourinho’s Roma.
The Algerian makes sense for West Ham, as he can play as a left-sided centre back or a left back, giving Moyes a versatile option to help Aaron Cresswell and Arthur Masuaku.
Bensebaini was once likened to Raphael Varane, and West Ham fans would surely love to see him join this summer, with a new boost emerging from reports in France.
Foot Mercato claim that Gladbach have started talks to sign Rennes left back Faitout Maouassa, surely lining him up to be Bensebaini’s replacement.

The pair play in the same position in a back four, and Maouassa signing as a backup for Bensebaini just doesn’t make sense.
If Maouassa does head to Germany, it may well push Bensebaini one step closer to the exit – and potentially closer to West Ham.
