Frank Leboeuf has claimed that it would have been ‘very sad’ if Harry Kane left Tottenham for Chelsea this summer, as he told ESPN.

Whilst there were well-documented claims about Kane wanting to leave Spurs for Manchester City this summer, there were also those rumours about Chelsea flying about, as reported by Goal.

But instead, Thomas Tuchel opted to bring Romelu Lukaku back to Stamford Bridge and Kane stayed put at Hotspur Way.

And on Sunday afternoon, the duo will battle it out in North London, with one in red hot, or even blue hot form, and the other still trying to search for his first Premier League goal of the campaign.

Scoring that goal this afternoon would be an ideal time for a Nuno Espirito Santo team that is just starting to show some slippery signs.

Nonetheless, ahead of that game, ex-Chelsea man Leboeuf was asked about Kane possibly being a Chelsea player.

“It would have been something very sad and something that they could be very upset about if Kane would have signed for Chelsea,” said Leboeuf

“But that’s possible and it happened to many, many clubs. We saw players not signing for Barcelona to Madrid. Or Manchester United and Manchester City. We saw that with Schmeichel, at the time.

“But everything is possible. It would have been nice to see Kane. But I am happy to see Lukaku. He is doing the job.”

Chelsea and Spurs don’t do much transfer business, and there is a reason for that.

If a certain Daniel Levy was stubborn about Kane leaving for the Etihad then it’s unimaginable how he would have been feeling when it came to Chelsea.

There’s no way it would have happened and there’s no way Kane would have swapped one London club for another like that.

For Kane now, it’s a case of putting his head down and defending his Golden Boot crown.

Added with the likes of Mohamed Salah, he now has Lukaku breathing down his neck and a certain Cristiano Ronaldo.
