Harry Kane has little appetite to sign a new contract at Tottenham Hotspur after rejecting a bumper pay-rise this month, on an offer that is now off the table, according to The Athletic.
Managing Director Fabio Paratici proposed a time-sensitive offer to Kane upon his return to north London for pre-season training. He, and Chairman Daniel Levy, were keen to secure the striker’s long-term future and ward off interest from Manchester City.
Kane met Paratici on August 9 for a lengthy meeting to discuss his future in which the Spurs chief offered him the new deal. The terms would have featured a significant increase on the England captain’s current £200,000-per-week contract, which expires in 2024.

Kane rejected Paratici’s proposal as he remained hopeful of joining Manchester City, but has since declared he’s staying at Tottenham. The Citizens did not make an improved offer for the 28-year-old before he announced on Twitter his commitment to Spurs.
Yet his vow only stipulated ‘this summer’ and Kane remains open to leaving Tottenham, although a January move is unlikely. The forward also has little appetite for signing a new contract in north London, should Paratici and Levy proposal terms.
The deal Paratici had proposed earlier this month is now off the table, having made Kane a time-sensitive offer. Levy now has little incentive to re-open negotiations, as the forward is staying and has three-years left on his deal.
Reports by The Sun had suggested Levy will offer Kane a £330k-p/w contract to keep him at Tottenham until 2027. Additionally, The Times claimed the 61-cap international hopes any new deal would be worth £400k-p/w. But, seemingly, neither is likely anytime soon.
Should Tottenham give Kane a pay-rise now he’s staying?
While there are conflicting claims on Tottenham still wanting to offer Kane a new contract, Levy has no urgent need. The striker will not be leaving north London this summer and has three-years left on his existing deal. But pressure may grow on Spurs to table fresh terms.
Kane will know he can demand far in excessive of his existing salary if he were to leave the club. The Mirror report Manchester City were ready to pay him £350k-p/w had he joined Pep Guardiola at the Etihad Stadium. That’s a 75% increase on his reported Spurs salary.
If Levy and Paratici draw a line in the sand at their expired offer, Kane may look to leave Tottenham again. He has offered no clear indication that he sees his long-term future in north London. But his statement rather suggests he sees his prolonged Spurs stay as short.
