Jamie Carragher has said on Sky Sports Premier League (6:53pm, January 5, 2023) that Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal need to take four points off of Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City if they are to win the Premier League title this season.
The former Liverpool defender believes that defending champions Manchester City will be most people’s favourites to win the title ahead of Arsenal this season.
The Sky Sports pundit has said that Arsenal need to take points off of City in their next two games if they are to become Premier League champions.
Carragher made the comments in the build-up to the Premier League game between Chelsea and City on Thursday evening.
The Citizens won 1-0.
City are now five points behind leaders Arsenal in second place.

Jamie Carragher on Arsenal v Manchester City Premier League title race
Carragher said, as transcribed by ManchesterWorld: “I think a lot of it will come down to the two games against Manchester City.
“If Arsenal want to win the title they’ll have to take four points off City, I would expect, and I think that would put them in a great position.
Who will win the title?
In our view, Manchester City have to be considered as favourites for the Premier League title this season, but we should not be surprised if Arsenal do go on and win it.
After all, Mikel Arteta’s side are in the lead now, and they are not showing any signs of slowing down.
Yes, Arsenal could not win against Newcastle United this week, but it is not that City win each and every match.
