It has been reported that four Premier League clubs are interested in raiding Tottenham to sign Djed Spence on loan this month – and surely, one of those four has got to Everton after Nathan Patterson was struck with another injury.

Spence, 22, joined Tottenham from Middlesbrough for a fee of £19million in the summer. That is after a wonderful loan spell at Nottingham Forest – helping Forest gain promotion. But instead of rejoining Forest, he went to Spurs.

The move has not yet worked out for England Under-21 international Spence. He has managed just five outings for Spurs, all from the bench. A total of just 28 minutes. ESPN report that four Premier League clubs want him on loan.

Indeed, the report states that Spence is keen to leave Spurs on loan. The identity of those clubs remain hidden, but Frank Lampard’s Everton have got to be one of those. The Toffees need cover at right-back after Patterson’s injury.

Surely Everton are interested in raiding Tottenham to sign Spence

Patterson has been first choice for much of Lampard’s reign at right-back, over Seamus Coleman. But the majority of his Everton spell has been marred by injury. Earlier this term, he missed five League games due to an ankle issue.

Now, the Scotland star has picked up a knee injury following the 4-1 defeat to Brighton. It leaves Everton with only Coleman and perhaps, Mason Holgate – who is naturally a centre-back. But Everton, ideally, need a replacement.

So, if there are four Premier League clubs eyeing a loan for Spurs star Spence, Everton have got to be one of those. He suits Everton and Lampard’s style. The boss likes his full-backs to attack and whip crosses into the penalty area.

Spurs will surely be in favour of a move for Spence to Everton. A big club, under pressure from an expectant fan base. They can keep a close eye on him. The perfect stage for Spence to learn, and return to Spurs a better player.
