Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool and Ange Postecoglou’s Tottenham Hotspur could miss out on the signing of Manchester City midfielder Kalvin Phillips.
That is according to La Gazzetta dello Sport, which has claimed that Kalvin Phillips has made his decision on his next club.
So, what is the situation involving Manchester City, Liverpool, Tottenham Hotspur and Kalvin Phillips?
Let’s take a look.
What’s the story?
Well, the future of Manchester City and England international midfielder Kalvin Phillips is wrapped up in uncertainty.
Phillips is struggling for playing time at City at the moment, and it does not look like things are going to get any better for the England international.
The 27-year-old defensive midfielder has made only four substitute appearances in the Premier League and has played just 37 minutes in the UEFA Champions League.
Phillips made just two starts in the Premier League for City last season.
Liverpool and Tottenham have been linked with Phillips.

According to talkSPORT, Liverpool, Tottenham, Newcastle United and Fulham all want to sign the midfielder in the January transfer window.
City manager Pep Guardiola is reportedly fine with the defending Premier League champions offloading the 27-year-old.
According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, City are now ready to send Phillips out on loan to Juventus in the January transfer window.
The report in the Italian news outlet has added that Phillips himself has said ‘yes’ to a potential move to Juventus in the middle of the season.
Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur to miss out on Kalvin Phillips
I am not surprised that both Manchester City and Kalvin Phillips are keen on a loan deal with Juventus.
Juventus are one of the biggest clubs in the world and are very much in the running for the Serie A title this season.
Phillips would be able to play more regularly at Juventus than he would at City and would not have to worry about his place in the England squad for the Euro 2024 finals.
For City, they would not have to worry about Phillips moving to Liverpool or Newcastle and making them better.
City Director of Football, Txiki Begiristain, has previously described Phillips on the club’s official website as “a formidable talent” with “fantastic ability and quality”, so we know that he is a very good and capable player.
