Rangers flop Carlos Pena is on the move again as the Mexican continues to try and revive his career, signing for Guatemalan side Antigua GFC after a year in El Salvador.
Pena, who arrived at Ibrox for £2.7million at the height of the Pedro Caixinha fiasco, is now on his fifth club since his Ibrox contract was ripped up in 2019.
The 31-year-old former Mexico international has had spells with GKS Tychy in Poland, Correcaminos and Tiburón in Mexico as well as FAS in El Salvador since leaving Rangers.
While at FAS Pena played 21 times, scoring four goals, and appears to have finally started to get his career back on track after a shambolic few years.
Pena ended the season as Salvadoran champion and was reportedly attracting interest from club in MLS as well as back in his homeland.
Despite arriving at Ibrox in a blaze of glory in 2017, Pena only managed fourteen appearances for the Light Blues – scoring a creditable five goals.
There were brief glimpses of the player Caixinha was so excited to bring to Rangers but off-field problems derailed his time in Scotland.
Two subsequent loan stints back in his homeland were also torpedoed because of Pena’s alcohol issues.
Although it seems clear that his days at the top level are very much over, at 31 Pena still has a chance to make up for lost time and try to rediscover the form that saw him win 19 caps for Mexico and represent El Tri at a World Cup.
