Watford and Sunderland are both interested in signing former Rangers defender Harris O’Connor after the youngster’s recent release by the Light Blues, according to a report.
The Daily Record credit the two Engish sides with an interest in the ex-Rangers teenager after he reportedly joined Stoke City on trial.
A move to Watford would see him link up with former Rangers team-mate Dapo Mebude after the striker was unveiled by the Hornets yesterday, signing a two-year deal at Vicarage Road.
O’Connor was recently training with Airdrie under another ex-Ger in Ian Murray, although the Diamonds boss admitted he wasn’t sure if he’d be in a position to offer him a deal.
O’Connor even featured for Airdrie in a friendly against Clyde but Murray was non-committal over a contract at the time, saying: “Harris is a really talented player but he is still young.”
“We just need to weigh up the options with him and be fair to him in terms of how many minutes he could get at Airdrie next season.”
O’Connor could become the latest ex-Rangers youth in the Premier League
The youngster spent two years at Rangers as a professional before leaving at the end of last season but it appears he is in high demand with a number of potential suitors.

If O’Connor was to head to Watford, he’d become the latest young Ger to make a move south of the border after leaving Ibrox recently, with Billy Gilmour, Nathan Young-Coombes and brothers Dapo and Dire Mebude all with Premier League sides while former Rangers keeper Brian Kinnear is reportedly on trial at West Ham United.
While at Rangers, O’Connor was quickly promoted to the under-20s side at Ibrox and was often praised by Graeme Murty and Kevin Thomson before being released.
