Jalen Brunson and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander are two of the NBA’s biggest stars, and they both play the point guard position.
This inevitably leads to discussions about whether Brunson or Gilgeous-Alexander is the better basketball player.
Brunson’s stock is at an all-time high, having just won a championship with the New York Knicks and the Finals MVP award.
SGA has won back-to-back regular season MVP awards and the Oklahoma City Thunder won the title just over 12 months ago.
Former NBA player PJ Tucker, who retired at the end of last season, has now weighed in on the Brunson vs SGA debate.

PJ Tucker played for eight different NBA teams, including the Knicks, and won a championship with the Milwaukee Bucks.
The 41-year-old is more than qualified to settle the debate over the best point guard: Brunson or Gilgeous-Alexander.
Having watched him closely for several months with the Knicks, Tucker backed Brunson for his clutch performances.
He showed throughout the 2026 playoffs that he was probably the most trustworthy superstar in the final minutes of games.
“I’m rolling with JB for sure,” Tucker said on the Club 520 Podcast. “JB’s so clutch, bro. I think he’s like a 90s-era player, bro. And people don’t see it.
“Because he doesn’t talk a lot and he doesn’t go to do too much, but when you’re on his team, and you’re on the bench, you’re over there like, ‘He’s getting the ball.’
“If he’s not shooting, he’s making the play every single time. And there are a lot of teams in this league that have stars and all that, and they do not want the moments.”
While Tucker did not say anything negative about Gilgeous-Alexander, it was clear that he prefers the Knicks superstar.
It will be interesting to see whether Brunson can continue his excellent performances and lead the Knicks back to the Finals.
