David Thompson has said on Twitter that Liverpool fans should not protest against FSG like Manchester United supporters did against their owners today.

Liverpool’s Premier League game against United at Old Trafford today was postponed due to fans’ protest at the stadium.

As reported by BBC Sport, about 200 fans broke into Old Trafford to protest against the Glazer family’s ownership of the club.

It was eventually decided that the Premier League game will not be played this evening.

Both Liverpool and United were part of the short-lived European Super League project, and fans of the two clubs are not happy with their respective owners.

Some Liverpool fans want Fenway Sports Group (FSG) to sell the club, but a former Anfield player has reminded the supporters of the good that FSG has done.

Former Liverpool midfielder Thompson, who now works as a pundit for BBC Sport, has suggested that the Merseyside club’s fans should not protest like the United supporters did today.

Some Liverpool fans will never forget how FSG tried to form the European Super League, and there was also the issue of trying to furlough the staff during the global health pandemic.

However, it must also be considered that the Reds have been very successful under FSG.

Liverpool won the Premier League last season and the Champions League the year before.

The Reds have a world-class manager in Jurgen Klopp, and although the team are having a disappointing season, there is every reason to be optimistic and confident about the future.
