Arsenal fans are seemingly enamoured with Martin Odegaard right now, and while he looks to be the perfect summer signing for the Gunners, a better option seems to have come along.

Indeed, with reports suggesting that Real Madrid aren’t open to selling Odegaard to Arsenal this summer, the London club have had to look at alternatives, and Sport suggest that Paulo Dybala could be the man they go for.

Dybala is very similar to Odegaard in a lot of ways. He’s a silky, left-footed playmaker with fantastic dribbling skills and an eye for a pass. However, as hard as this is to believe, there’s reason to suggest that Dybala is actually the superior player.

Now, we’re not saying that Odegaard is a bad footballer. Anyone who’s ever watched him play will tell you that the opposite is true, but Dybala genuinely has the talent to be a world superstar.

The Argentine once scored 22 league goals in a single season for Juventus, and while the goals have dried up a little since he was moved into a deeper role to accommodate for Cristiano Ronaldo, his underlying stats are still incredible.

2.6 shots per game, 1.8 key passes per game,1.4 dribbles per game and 1 cross per game. Dybala trumps Odegaard in almost every single attacking metric, and the scary thing is, this has been considered one of Dybala’s worst seasons so far.

Last term he was putting up 3 shots per game, 2.1 key passes and two dribbles, while he also had 17 direct goal contributions. A tally seven higher than Odegaard has ever produced in one of Europe’s traditional top five leagues.

Arsenal have had a void of creativity in that number 10 role ever since the downfall of Mesut Ozil at the Emirates, and while Odegaard has provided a brilliant short-term solution, Dybala could be the dream long-term Ozil successor.

Dybala’s arrival would quickly help Gunners supporters forget all about Odegaard if he isn’t joining permanently this summer.
