Antony has told Arsenal forward Gabriel Jesus ‘we will keep fighting for you’ after a knee injury ended his World Cup campaign with Brazil, as the Manchester United star posted on his Instagram story.

In a cruel blow to the Arsenal summer signing, he started his first game at the Qatar World Cup during Brazil’s defeat against Cameroon on Friday, but he left the pitch for the final time in the Middle East.

He knew before a ball was kicked that he was going to play behind the likes of Richarlison and the recently-injured Neymar Jr in Tite’s attacking pecking order.

After failing to score a goal at the 2018 World Cup, Jesus was hoping to put things right in Doha and help his nation progress to world glory for the first time since 2002.

But it’s not meant to be for the 25-year-old!

Manchester United winger Antony posted the following message on his IG story to his national teammate: “Strength my brother. We will keep fighting for you.”

JESUS INJURY NEWS

Whilst this knee injury is a blow to Brazil and the player himself, it’s probably a bigger knockout for Mikel Arteta and Arsenal.

They are sitting at the top of the Premier League table, but it seems as though Jesus is set to be out of action for three months.

Some felt before Jesus’ injury that perhaps the Gunners should look towards depth and freshness in their bid to win the title, well, they are going to need another striker for sure if their star forward is out of action for the long term.

There is Eddie Nketiah as the back-up option in north London, and when Premier League football returns on Boxing Day, he’s going to become very, very important in Arteta’s plans for the next few months.
