Michael Owen mocked Illan Meslier by claiming that one save from the Leeds United goalkeeper during his side’s 2-2 draw against Manchester United at Old Trafford was ‘for the cameras’.
The moment Owen is talking about is when Manchester United’s new boy, Marcel Sabitzer, curled a left-footed effort on target in the first half.
The Bayern Munich loanee had a number of efforts on goal yesterday, but Michael Owen thinks the man in between the sticks for Leeds made that one, in particular, a lot harder than it looked.

Overall from Meslier, 22, it was a strong showing on the road following Jesse Marsch’s sacking, although, he will be annoyed at Jadon Sancho’s equaliser.
It was a fair result, in the end, between the two Premier League heavyweights, with Owen sharing his thoughts on Meslier’s seemingly over-exuberant save, as he told Premier League Productions (08/02/23 at 9:00 pm).
“This is a great effort, again the new boy Sabitzer, this time on his left foot,” said Owen. “He gets a little bit of space and curls the ball.
“I think that’s one for the cameras. It’s probably an easier save than it looked (from Meslier).”

NEW MANAGER HUNT
The pressure is mounting on Andrea Radrizzani to bring in Marsch’s replacement as soon as possible, with Manchester United now set to visit Elland Road on Sunday.
The Leeds chairman, on Thursday morning, posted and then deleted a Twitter message where he stated ‘we keep praying and making interviews’.
That doesn’t bode well because, it wasn’t so long ago, that the Italian stated someone could be in by the close of play on Thursday evening.
