West Ham fans think Newcastle will sign Jesse Lingard from Manchester United following their big-money takeover and recent rumours.

The England international was on-loan at West Ham during the second half of last season and he thrived so much that he turned his previously stagnating career around.

Despite that, Lingard still isn’t a regular at Old Trafford and there are suggestions that the club have slashed his price down to £15 million – he has less than a year remaining on his contract.

To the surprise of not many, Newcastle have discussed possibly pushing for Lingard’s talents, as reported by the Telegraph.

And whilst West Ham fans would have loved to have signed the goalscoring midfielder in the summer, they can now see him moving to the North East.

But, after his success in East London last season, he could have moved back to the club.

Instead, he opted to fight for his place at his boyhood club and it’s probably unlikely he will want to let that go in January, perhaps when his contract expires and he has had a full season under his belt, but not yet, not after one last final push at the theatre of dreams.

Here is a selection of West Ham fans reacting to Newcastle/Lingard:
