Newcastle United’s hopes of signing Jesse Lingard may have been boosted with Manchester United ready to slash his asking price.
That’s according to The Sun, who claim that United are currently planning sell Lingard for much cheaper in January.
There are fears that Lingard won’t sign a new deal before the January window.
With his contract ending next summer, the Red Devils clearly feel concerned that Lingard will leave for absolutely nothing.
They are therefore prepared to sell Lingard for just £15million in January, which could be music to Newcastle’s ears.
Newcastle target Lingard after takeover
Newcastle were taken over last week, and England international Lingard is one of the first players being linked.
The Telegraph reported over the weekend that Newcastle have already discussed moving for Lingard.

The Magpies want to bring in players with Premier League experience whose contracts are running down – and Lingard fits the bill perfectly.
Branded a ‘total player’ by Gianfranco Zola, Lingard was sensational at West Ham last season. With nine goals and four assists in 16 games, Lingard starred on loan in East London.
Now back at United, Lingard is back to being a bit-part player. The 28-year-old needs to be playing, and that may be why he hasn’t signed a new deal.
Newcastle will be watching closely, with PIF no doubt interested in signing one of their first targets for cheaper than first thought.
