Carlos ‘Charly’ Alcaraz has bid an emotional goodbye to Racing Club while admitting that he is about to live his dream in the Premier League at Southampton, according to TYC Sports.
Well, Nathan Jones certainly can’t accuse the Saints bosses of failing to back him. We are only a third of the way through the window and the Premier League’s bottom club are already on the verge of completing their second new signing.
Alcaraz, a 20-year-old attacking midfielder from Argentina, is set to sign a five-year deal at St Mary’s. According to his agent, Alcaraz will undergo a medical at Southampton imminently after boarding a flight to the UK.

Southampton are signing Carlos ‘Charly’ Alcaraz from Argentine outfit Racing Club
“I thank the fans from the bottom of my heart. It’s not a goodbye, but a see you later,” Alcaraz says, indicating that he plans to return to Racing at some point in the future.
“If I had thought of saying goodbye like that, I would not have imagined it. I did not think that my goal against Boca Juniors would have been the last in Racing.
“What I love the most is my family, and it’s hard to leave without them. But soon I’ll have them with me. I was about to go and train, but (Racing) told me I had to leave, that I had a flight (to England). So now, I’m about to go follow my dream.
“The Premier League is a very nice league. I am going to have to work a lot. I am going to have to earn my place, like at Racing.”
Alcaraz, who joins fellow new recruit Mislav Orsic in Hampshire, scored nine goals in his breakthrough season at Racing. Both he and Orsic should give one of the Premier League’s more profligate sides a much-needed addition of cut and thrust in the final third.
Alcaraz could make Premier League debut vs Everton
“The negotiation was closed (on Monday morning),” says agent Sebastian Lopez, claiming that Alcaraz could make his Southampton debut during next weekend’s relegation six-pointer with Frank Lampard’s Everton.
“The sale occurs at the right moment for both Carlos and Racing. There were various clubs interested from the Premier League in Carlos.
“In the middle of training (on Monday), Racing told him he was sold. He said goodbye to his teammates, packed a little suitcase and went to the airport.
“On Saturday, he plays against Everton in the Premier League. And Carlos is excited to play that game.”
