Folarin Balogun has been active on social media after Arsenal were dumped out of the FA Cup by Southampton.

The young striker didn’t get a chance to shine for the Gunners in the cup as his limited opportunities in the first team continue, and his tweet after the final whistle was certainly interesting.

Indeed, shortly after Arsenal were knocked out of the cup, Balogun posted a video of a goal he scored yesterday for the U23 side, a game in which he scored a hat-trick.

Of course, this could just be an innocent tweet sharing his goal, but the timing of this message is certainly eyebrow-raising, coming less than 10 minutes after the final whistle at St. Mary’s.

Balogun’s displeasure at not getting a chance for the Gunners is well-documented, with reports claiming that he’s set to leave the London club at the end of the season when his contract expires.

We can’t say for sure, but this looks like a clear message being sent to the hierarchy at the Emirates, showing them what they’re missing out on.

However, the timing of this tweet could just be coincidental, but that seems rather unlikely seeing as he’ll be well aware of the Gunners being knocked out of the cup and how this tweet could be interpreted.

Whichever way you want to look at this post, the timing of it and the potential subtext behind it make it very interesting.
