Arsenal striker Folarin Balogun is about to leave the Gunners for Middlesbrough, according to Fabrizio Romano on Twitter.

The well-known and well-respected journalist has claimed that Balogun will leave Arsenal and move to Championship club Middlesbrough on a loan deal in the January transfer window.

Romano has reported that the 20-year-old striker will undergo a medical at Middlesbrough tomorrow, and then the loan transfer will be announced.

Folarin Balogun to leave Arsenal for Middlesbrough on loan

Loan exit sensible

In our view, it makes sense for Balogun to join Middlesbrough on loan from Arsenal in the January transfer window.

The 20-year-old striker was not going to get much playing time at Arsenal this season.

The Hale End academy graduate has made one start and one substitute appearance in the Premier League for Arsenal so far this campaign.

Balogun has made one start and one substitute appearance in the Carabao Cup this campaign.

So, in our opinion, Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta does not think that Balogun is ready to lead the line for the first team.

Middlesbrough are a big and ambitious club in the Championship who are aiming for promotion to the Premier League.

Boro are just outside the playoffs, and their aim this season is to get promoted.

Balogun will play in a very competitive environment at Middlesbrough, and that could help him grow and develop as a footballer.
