Kemar Roofe has issued a rallying call to Rangers after the disappointment of Steven Gerrard leaving on Thursday.

Gerrard quit his role as Rangers boss yesterday morning to join Aston Villa.

The 41-year-old led the Gers to a first Scottish Premiership title in 10 years last season and, in the process, ended Celtic’s 10-in-a-row bid.

That made him a hugely popular figure among the Ibrox faithful but now the light Blues face the unenvious task of replacing the Englishman.

Roofe, a £4 million signing under Gerrard, has sent a thank you message to the former Rangers boss on Instagram.

But also insisted that everyone remains focused on defending their Premiership crown in spite of the loss.

Who is replacing Gerrard at Rangers?

Well, it’s looking like the Glasgow giants are bringing a former player back to Ibrox.

Giovanni van Bronckhorst is widely touted to be replacing Gerrard at Rangers.

Jim White, a fan of the Gers, said live on talkSPORT this morning that the Dutchman would be interviewed about the role sometime this weekend.

The 46-year-old has been out of work for a year following a disappointing spell in China.

But remember, this is a man who beat Ajax to the Eredivisie title with Feyenoord in the 2016–17 campaign.

As far as managers go, Van Bronckhorst would be a fine option for Rangers and it looks like it’s going to happen.
