Sam Byram has probably been deemed to be West Ham’s strongest performing right-back this term, but Hammers supporters will definitely tell you that that is not saying much at all. The youngster is starting to be written off by several supporters. With strengthening in that position being on many fans’ agenda for much of the window, the performance was all the more frustrating.

The left-back has struggled since returning to the side following injury back in October, and supporters are becoming increasingly concerned that few signs of improvement and getting back to the level he once was are evident.

Unsurprisingly, the fans find it difficult to fault Mark Noble given that he is arguably the one player that they can guarantee will give everything while he is out on the pitch. However, a decent number of the supporters are starting to feel that Slaven Bilic may need to hand the captain a rest over the coming weeks as he is starting to struggle.

While Robert Snodgrass was unable to make any impact on the scoresheet, there is a positivity amongst fans about his substitute appearance in the defeat. The January signing came on with around 25 minutes left, and showed some much needed passion. Meanwhile, Jose Fonte did little to suggest that his acquisition will prove to be a smart piece of business.
