AC Milan are in the midst of a takeover which could change the Italian club’s fortunes for years to come, yet now stakeholders in Liverpool are getting involved in the action.
According to Sky News, investment vehicle RedBird Capital, who owns 10% of Liverpool, are pushing to buy Milan despite recent reports that Investcorp, a Bahrain-based investor, were close to purchasing the Serie A giants.
This late twist in the tale could delay Milan’s takeover, yet with RedBird Capital pushing to buy the club, it could make for an interesting connection between the Rossoneri and Liverpool, who already have a huge history on the European front between one another.
However, if RedBird Capital are to purchase Milan, it could make signing players from the Italian side easier for Liverpool, and so, which players should the Reds be targeting if their minority stakeholders manage to buy the historic European club?
Pierre Kalulu

Liverpool are reportedly interested in adding a right-back to their squad next season to act as competition and cover for Trent Alexander-Arnold, and Milan star Pierre Kalulu could be an outstanding option for the Reds.
Able to play across the entire defence with the French youngster enjoying a breakout season with Milan, Kalulu could be a smart signing for Liverpool if the Reds are looking for a quality option to challenge Alexander-Arnold for the right-back spot next season.
Sandro Tonali

A player who has long been tipped as the heir to Andrea Pirlo for both Milan and Italy, Sandro Tonali has been exceptional for the Serie A side this season, and for Liverpool, the midfielder could be an interesting option.
It would take some financial effort to lure the 22-year-old, but with Jordan Henderson getting on with age and Thiago Alcantara’s injury problems still causing some issues, Milan star Tonali could be perfect for Liverpool as a long-term option in the midfield, especially under the management of Jurgen Klopp.
Ismael Bennacer

Another central midfielder who could make the move to Anfield but at a much cheaper price is former Arsenal academy star Ismael Bennacer, who since moving to the San Siro has been influential for Milan and has this season been a contender for the Rossoneri’s most important player.
Recently named the club’s Player of the Month for a second consecutive month, the Algerian international has been key to Milan’s title push this season and their qualification for another year of UEFA Champions League football, and a return to the Premier League with Liverpool could be a great career move for Bennacer.
Rafael Leao

A reported £59m target for Arsenal, Rafael Leao could be Liverpool’s next superstar attacker depending on the futures of Mohamed Salah and Roberto Firmino, with the Milan star able to play across the entire forward line.
Compared to PSG star Kylian Mbappe, there’s a good reason why Leao has been linked with a move to the Premier League, and for Liverpool, the Portuguese international has the potential to be a phenom at Anfield should the Reds move to sign the youngster in the next 18 months.
Marko Lazetic

Milan went big in January to sign 18-year-old Serbian striker Marko Lazetic, with the teenage forward regarded by many as one of the next big things in football, and for Liverpool, the attacker could be an exceptional signing in the coming years.
Physically imposing but with an exquisite first touch, Lazetic might take some time to truly explode at Milan, but with the club leaning into their youth revolution, the Serbian could catch Liverpool’s eye if the forward one day breaks into the starting XI, a hope that the Italian side will be banking on.
