Manchester City have reportedly made contact with Jorge Mendes over the potential signing of AC Milan star Rafael Leao, who is also wanted by Arsenal.

According to CalcioMercato, the super-agent has received calls from City, Borussia Dortmund and FC Barcelona over the Portuguese international, with Leao catching the attention of some of Europe’s biggest clubs after a stellar season in Milan.

The former LOSC Lille star, who drew comparisons to Kylian Mbappe during his time in France, has enjoyed his best season to date with the Rossoneri, with Leao bagging 11 goals and six assists in all competitions with Milan.

And heading into the summer, multiple clubs are now interested in Leao, with City seemingly the best Premier League club to sign the 22-year-old, with Arsenal also keen on the left-sided attacker.

La Repubblica reported that the Gunners were the frontrunners for Leao earlier in the season, with Gazzetta dello Sport also adding that Milan will only sell their young attacker for €70m (£59m) as Paulo Maldini currently works on tying the winger down to a new contract.

With Milan close to signing Divock Origi, there is a small chance that Leao could leave the Italian giants this summer with City and Arsenal chasing the forward. However, it is more than likely that both Premier League clubs miss out on the attacker.

Arsenal and City are both in the market for wingers this season, yet given their current quality out on the flanks, Leao could only be viewed as a backup option for either club as Milan look to sign the wide-forward down to a new long-term contract.

Moreover, when you factor in the project Milan are currently undertaking, it wouldn’t be too surprising if Leao rejects Arsenal and City to remain in northern Italy, with the European giants in with a shout of winning the Serie A title this season.
