Spurs have named their starting XI to face Aston Villa, with the big news being that Dele Alli has been dropped to the bench.

The England international was in excellent form midweek as the £100k-a-week midfielder was one of Tottenham’s best performing players in the UEFA Europa Conference League against Mura.

However, despite impressing in Europe, Nuno Espirito Santo has made the decision to drop Alli from the Spurs XI for this afternoon’s huge Premier League clash against Villa.

Both sides will be eager for three points. However, with Spurs in poor form in the league, the north London side are desperate to return to winning ways, and this XI from Nuno shows that they mean business against Villa.

Indeed, Giovani Lo Celso and Bryan Gil have also returned to the bench after both starting midweek with Alli. Harry Kane, who bagged a 19-minute hat-trick against Mura, returns to the XI.

A win today could see Tottenham climb to as high as seventh in the Premier League if other results go their way. However, Villa begin the match above the north London side.
