Spain and Argentina are set to face off in the 2026 FIFA World Cup Final at the MetLife Stadium.
Spain reached the final by sweeping through Group H, followed by knockout wins over Austria, Portugal, Belgium, and a 2-0 semi-final victory against France.
Defending champions Argentina advanced from Group J, surviving tough knockout clashes with Cape Verde, Egypt, and Switzerland before defeating England 2-1 in a dramatic semi-final comeback.
But the real question is, how much does the biggest prize in soccer return?
Prize money for the World Cup winner and runner-up
The 2026 Champions League final paid the winners $27 million in direct prize money, while the Euro 2024 final awarded the champions an extra $8.6 million on top of accumulated bonuses. Meanwhile, the 2022 World Cup final in Qatar delivered a staggering $42 million payout to the champions.
And this time round at the 2026 World Cup, FIFA are set to go one better, as they prepare to hand the winners around $51 million, according to ESPN.
The runners-up walk away with a healthy sum too, with $34 million coming their way.
In terms of the rounds leading up to this, teams knocked out in the group stage receive $10 million, which rises to $12 million for the round of 32, $16 million for the round of 16, and $20 million for quarter-finalists, before climbing to $28 million for fourth place and $30 million for the third-place finishers.
