Paulo Ferreira hailed Arsenal and Liverpool target, Renato Sanches, as a ‘talented boy’, as he told Stadium Astro.

The former defender thinks that Sanches had a ‘big impact’ at Euro 2020, despite Portugal getting knocked out, and he has backed him to move to a ‘big club’ this summer.

The Lille star, who won the French title last season, is seemingly attracting interest from the likes of Liverpool and Arsenal this summer.

90 min claim that Arsenal have made contact to try and sign the midfield powerhouse, whilst CBS Sport claim that he is Liverpool’s ‘top target’ for the summer.

Even though Portugal weren’t able to defend their Euro crown, ex-Chelsea man, Ferreira, did point out the bright spark to come out of their camp.

“I am happy for Renato because he’s another talented boy,” said Ferreira. “I think he left Portugal quite early.

“I think the moves he had to Swansea, where things didn’t work out, I think it was probably good for him as well. It put his feet on the ground.

“I am happy he moves to Lille. He brought back the confidence. He had a fantastic season as well. And look at him now. Another good tournament. He did really well and he made a big impact.

“He’s a top player. For me, he’s a player that he can move to another big club again because he’s a really, really top player.”

Well, that teenage kid that couldn’t stop losing the ball when in Swansea colours is a changed player now.

Sanches is more authoritative on the ball, and rather than making a bad first touch, he’s now putting the opposition on the backfoot with his ability to drive through a midfield.

Whether he is played as an eight or further up the field, it’s a nightmare to deal with his close control, drive and power in the middle of the park.
