Southampton are reportedly interested in signing Fernando Torres from Atletico Madrid.

Atletico Madrid striker Fernando Torres has reportedly expressed his desire to return to the Premier League till the end of the season.
The Spain international, who has 110 caps for his country, has 18 months left on his current deal. He wants to finish his career at his boyhood club, but is keen to play the second half of the season in the Premier League.

Torres has played 10 games so far, but is yet to open his account for Atletico. Newcastle United are reportedly interested, but Southampton should make a move if such opportunity arises.
The 33-year-old has become a shadow of the player he once was. He was one of the world’s best striker during his time at Liverpool, and enjoyed moments of brilliance during spells at Chelsea and Atletico as well.

Having said that, Torres is still a fantastic goal-scorer, and could be a smart short-term fix for the Saints.
Mauricio Pellegrino needs to bolster the strike department with Southampton managing only nine goals in 11 games this season.
Torres may have lost his pace and agility, but he still has the sharpness to find the back of the net. Plus, he will be available on loan, so it is a risk free buy as well.
